About Skinny Molly

Skinny Molly was founded in 2004 by guitarist/vocalist Mike Estes (formerly of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Blackfoot), Dave Hlubek (founding member of Molly Hatchet), and Nashville, TN studio drummer, Kurt Pietro. Originally put together to do a one-off tour of Europe in 2004, Skinny Molly has eighteen years later, become one of the hardest working and popular rock bands to come out of the southern United States. Solidifying the current lineup in 2007, the band boasts guitarist Jay Johnson (formerly of Blackfoot/Rossington Band), and Grand Ole Opry stalwart bassist, Luke Bradshaw. This lineup has toured relentlessly; their first jaunt found them crossing three continents in 30 days on the strength of their debut CD “No Good Deed”, constant gigging has established them as “The band from the South to see” at festivals and clubs across Europe as well as at home in the States.

In 2012, word of their incendiary live shows reached Ruf Records president Thomas Ruf and Skinny Molly immediately embarked on recording their first CD for the label, “Haywire Riot.” “Haywire Riot” bordered on a southern gothic gumbo sound, while retaining Estes’ dark lyrics about lost love, redemption, and the freedom of life on the road.

After amicably parting with Ruf in 2014, the band set out to record their best blast of “Southern Rawk” as Estes calls it, the aptly titled “Here For A Good Time”. The CD is a collection of songs that the band thinks is their best yet. “Here For A Good Time” is sure to please fans of a number of genres; Southern Rock, Rock, Country, Blues, and Americana fans will all find much more than a little something to love about this CD.

In 2015, Skinny Molly released it’s first-ever DVD, “Skinny Molly Live at the Shed” which shows the band at it’s lean and basic best, completely live and void of studio enhancement. The DVD shows why the band is finally getting the accolades and bigger audiences it deserves, playing the huge “Rock the South” Festival and headlining six more festivals in Europe in 2017.

For 2022, the band will rock even more fans this summer and fall playing festivals across the USA, Spain, France, Czech Republic, Germany, and all over the UK. Skinny Molly is also putting the finishing touches on their long-awaited, as yet untitled new music CD.

Skinny Molly has built an extremely loyal international following the old-fashioned way; playing a highly energetic live set with brick and mortar solid songs all over the world; whether it’s Euro rock festivals, Stateside bike rallies, the world’s largest fishing tournament in Mexico, or any honky-tonk in any given place on the globe, their battle cry is unwavering; “Never let a single fan go home disappointed!”

What Passengers Think

My husband and I took a chance and booked our first ever cruise in December 2011 after listening to a radio commercial about a cruise with ZZ Top, George Thorogood and John Kay playing and cruising with us (among many other great bands!). This was “Woodstock on Water”! We have been on every one since and have made many new friends who we correspond with throughout the year and look forward to seeing every year. There should be a different word than “Cruise” to describe this because it does not compare to a standard cruise by any means. Seeing- greeting-hugging-taking pictures with so many of our idols – PRICELESS!! Pam and the NAHA staff do an outstanding job and we always book as soon as each cruise booking opens – no need to wait to see who will be rockin’ us! If you like classic and southern rock and have not booked this cruise, do not wait or you’ll miss out. It sells out earlier every year. (Love to all the Dfers and FB Rock Legends Cruise Fans and FB Rock Legends Cruise Party’ers!)

Judy Diaz, DON'T MISS OUT! Judy Diaz, DON'T MISS OUT!

This was my 5th RLC out of 6 and will be on the next one in 2019. It is the only way to do a cruise and one of the best ways to have an over the top rock ‘n roll experience. There are three venues with shows going on from 10 am to past 12 midnight – every day! Once you’re done for the night, the convenience of your cabin is just steps away. The RLC lineup speaks for itself. There is so much talent, legends and upcoming rockers, on the ship! The people, your fellow rockers, are all there for the same reason – rock ‘n roll! Don’t be surprised if you run into a few rock stars on the elevator or just hanging out watching a show.
