The Weight Band

About The Weight Band

THE WEIGHT BAND features former members of The Band, the Levon Helm Band and Rick Danko Group, performing the music of The Band.

Replicating the music of The Band is a tall order. But interpreting the music of The Band is an art. Songs that have reverberated across history for decades continue to speak to millions of us. And THE WEIGHT BAND, a five-piece ensemble featuring Jim Weider and Randy Ciarlante from The Band, Brian Mitchell of the Levon Helm Band, Marty Grebb, who wrote and recorded with The Band and worked with Rick Danko and Richard Manuel, and Albert Rogers who played with Levon Helm and Garth Hudson, remains a vehicle through which we can continue to share those stories and dance to those back beats. Come and take a load off.

Jim Weider  (VOCALS / GUITAR)
Thirty years ago, Jim replaced Robbie Robertson as lead guitarist, singer and songwriter for The Band. Featured on Jericho, Jubilation, and High On The Hog albums, Jim toured with the group right up until the end and appeared in numerous BAND performance videos and documentary segments.

Randy Ciarlante  (VOCALS / DRUMS)
Personally recruited by Levon Helm, Randy shared The Band’s vocal and drumming duties alongside Levon. He toured with the group for more than ten years, was featured on Jericho, Jubilation, and High On The Hog albums and also appeared in many of The Band’s live performance videos and archival footage.

Brian Mitchell  (VOCALS / PIANO / B3 / ACCORDION / HARMONICA)
As a member of The Levon Helm Band, Brian played piano, organ and accordion as well as contributing to vocals. He now fills those same roles within THE WEIGHT BAND. Highly regarded within the music industry as the consummate musician, Brian has performed with Bob Dylan, Al Green, BB King and countless others.

Marty Grebb  (VOCALS / B3 / PIANO / ACCORDION / SAXOPHONE)
A talented multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter, Marty’s connection to The Band runs deep.  He wrote and recorded on Jericho and performing on Jericho and Jubilation albums, as well as having worked on Rick Danko, Richard Manuel, and Garth Hudson projects. Like the other members of THE WEIGHT BAND, Marty has toured with many great artists, including Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, and Gregg Allman, just to name a few.

Albert Rogers  (VOCALS / BASS)
Albert plays bass and shares vocal duties as a member of THE WEIGHT BAND. A long-time collaborator with Jim Weider, Albert has played with Levon Helm and Garth Hudson of The Band, as well as Albert Lee, Jim Quick, and Grayson Hugh.

What Passengers Think

First time on RLC cruise and it was, by far, one of the best damn times I’ve ever had in my life! Loved every band we saw, especially Sammy, Bad Company and Artimus Pyle! Had already booked for VII before we even went on this one and won’t be giving up my reservation for anything! I do agree with another reviewer that the chair reserving/holding on the deck needs to be addressed and the smoking everywhere on deck 11 was a little much. Thank you NAHA for nailing it for us true rockers!!

Mary, Talk about a Rock-n-Roll fantasy! Mary, Talk about a Rock-n-Roll fantasy!

This was my 5th RLC out of 6 and will be on the next one in 2019. It is the only way to do a cruise and one of the best ways to have an over the top rock ‘n roll experience. There are three venues with shows going on from 10 am to past 12 midnight – every day! Once you’re done for the night, the convenience of your cabin is just steps away. The RLC lineup speaks for itself. There is so much talent, legends and upcoming rockers, on the ship! The people, your fellow rockers, are all there for the same reason – rock ‘n roll! Don’t be surprised if you run into a few rock stars on the elevator or just hanging out watching a show.
